The Tiberius Law: A Remedy to Delinquency
There is an emergency measure in law that has always been, and it's a very good thing. It allows the central government to cancel and to fire essentially an elected mayor and city council. And when the new mayor is appointed by the interior minister of Israel, that new mayor cannot run in the next election. That was the way things worked until July 5th. As of July 5th, the Knesset passed a law. They are stripping away the major guardrail to prevent the central government from essentially just canceling local elections that don't go the way they want," he says.
