The Benefits of Optimizing React Server Components

With React server components, one of the biggest benefits is that I don't need to download code that only needs to run at build time or server or server side and not on the client. But having listened to you talk on videos and other podcasts, it seems to me that in many ways you kind of look at that optimization as sort of a side benefit. If I understand correctly, your primary purpose is about the data flow from the server to the client or replacing the concept of APIs or is it something else? Like, what is the primary purpose of React server components? Really?
