Is Schopenhauer a Determinist?
Schopenhauer is a deeply poetic and artistic thinker, as beautiful to read as Hegel or any of the other grand theorists. He has contradictions that are similar to those in Buddhism: we want to end our grasping but do not stop wanting. The same critique applies against Schopenhauer because he elevated the will to this super integral fundamental metaphysical ontological existence which is everything. To negate the will seems to be absolutely futile. I mean, he's a determinist. So, I'm going to turn it over to you to see if you came across anything and we'll go back and forth in that. Back to you.
