Clarence Thomas has issued a statement about these reports saying that in his early tenure on the court, he had been told that personal hospitality from close friends didn't need to be recorded. Now he notes the Committee of the Judicial Conference responsible for financial disclosures have announced new guidance. Joan Johnson: I think the court itself should figure out a way to police itself. They're not even really policing their own.
