56 of these reactors are still operational today. France, under former socialist president Francois Hollande, decided to reduce its nuclear share from roughly 70 to 50% until 2025. The parliament has now dropped that target altogether. Six so-called EP2R reactors will be constructed and feasibility studies done on another eight. Construction work will start in 2028 with a first reactor powered up in 2035.
