Peter thinks that this meeting of minds is particularly extraordinary in the case of an octopus as opposed to say a cat because of just how different they are from us. Neuroscientist Anil Seth has also spent time with octopuses and he's also had this intuition that they are conscious so does he think there's any value in paying attention to those intuitions? This is a super interesting question but it's also quite a dangerous question I think we also have this tendency as humans to want to arrange things along some scale usually putting ourselves at the top of it as the best of everything.
