The Pranakan in Southeast Asia

The pranakan Chinese are born of intermarriage between some of the earliest Chinese traders that came to Southeast Asia in the around the 15th century. They became anglo-flau, which is an interesting feature of their politics during the colonial period. There's a lot of interesting parallels between the Pranakan and other overseas Chinese groups across the region.
