The Rise of Neighborhood Resistance Committees in Sudan

Resistance committees emerged to organize protests against the Bashir regime, but also on a kind of more local level. They mobilize around grievances around basically government services right and public service provisions like water, electricity, etc. In this transitional period you then saw them take on a larger role in mobilizing the community to fix schools. And so we've really seen them step in to essentially play the role that the state should be playing as these two war criminals are essentially battling it out for political and economic control of the country.
