Some of the earliest quote unquote civilizations look more like prison camps than anything, not necessarily bustling metropolises where free trade and liberalism was happening. They were they were militaristic enslaved labor installations that were perpetually at war with their similers. The hunter gatherers societies have generally been quite violent there's a great deal of evidence for that what they did not do though was to practice mass enslavement.
