Suzanne Hayward's Story of Living on the Boat

Suzanne Hayward is a businesswoman, former civil servant and author. She tells us her story of how she sailed as a young girl in treacherous conditions. Her recollections over those years on the boat are captivating and desperately sad at the same time. It wasn't until the age of 16 when Suzanne's luck or perhaps sheer determination got her a one-way ticket back to the UK where she managed to study at Oxford University. But despite having escaped from life on the boat in the end you can tell that the wounds from her early years have stayed with her even in her late husband's final moments.
