Is Money a Constraint or a Law?

If I take a painting by Picasso and I just set it on fire Where does the value of that painting go? Nowhere. So money is not conserved at all. But there's this deep connection between something being conserved and the universe having some sort of balance or symmetry to it. This comes from a law from a real genius of physics who've been long overlooked and only recently been appreciated.
