I just finished planning a program for a couple of years in the future, which starts with Haydn's sonatas and then segues into an atonal piano piece by Frank Zappa. So I think it's sometimes it's not done out of disrespect to Haydn, but mostly out of having a kind of narrative of characters through a program. Yeah, but sometimes contrast can be good too.
