The Path Metaphor

Jerny: The path metaphor is misleading. It gives students a false sense of how life actually looks. And it puts this immense, immense pressure on young people to ah confine themselves to very rigid definitions of success. Jerny: We're creating this system in which students are on these paths. But we've found that those paths are always other people's paths. They're never your own path.
