"I think circling back to this concept of identity and how it relates to hardship, I mean, like the conversation that saved my life was when I was in jail," he says. "You can be a man and know that it's up to you to change or you can go be a little victim, cry in the corner and say, well, was me and blame everybody else for your problems." A lot of people they do this where they go through hardship at a point in their life. It's not the hardship that necessarily breaks them. They continue to validate behaviors and decisions after that hardship. And so many people get caught up in that mindset.
