Being a beginner in this lifetime does not mean that you were a beginner in past lifetime. The fact that asmodius is not taking retribution for having been unwillingly bound is for lifetimes, well, lifetimes in the life of a demon. If we assume that it is asmodious as he claims, which could be, then what that says is that he had a relationship with her in that lifetime in which it was at least a mutually beneficial relationship if not in actual connection.
