If it wasn't for the scientists, we wouldn't know anything about climate change. We need far more risk assessment and risk assessment asks what do we care most about? I'll give a couple of examples to show how that gets you to a very different place so let's say you're talking about rising global sea levels. There is a plausible worst case scenario where that could happen within the next 200 years. That's quite shocking when you think London has a history of at least 2000 years.
