The Importance of Intent in the Indictment
I'm always second guessing myself in punditry and in life. So I've been spending a lot of time thinking about the indictment. I still think it didn't tell us more than we already knew from the January 6 committee and report. That is, did Trump understand that this was all a lie and he went about this conduct anyway? It would have been easier for me to say yes if the indictment had produced evidence of witness tampering or clear obstruction of justice. Instead we have these few moments in the indictment where you could read the evidence uncharitably to suggest that Trump knew all along that it was a big lie, so to speak.
