The Effects of Carbon Dioxide on the Surface Temperature
This is the first real climate model that had all of the things that you need in terms of working out what happens to radiation when you know you change the amount of carbon dioxide. The computers that we had for working it out were much less powerful. You could run that model on your Apple watch. They're using punch cards for that part. No graphical user interfaces or anything. It was a reasonable approximation though it wasn't perfect and we're doing a lot better now than we did 50 years ago. We are seeing this cooling not just in the stratosphere but in the upper stratospheric and in the mesosphere and in the thermosphere. All of these things are cooling because of
