Cooperative Equilibrium
In the model, each player is tasked with making a choice between co operative action or not. The key feature of this action is that it is costly to the individual int has presumably some benefit to society. You can only get cooperative equilibria if the future is sufficiently important and costs and benefits are such that punishing actually has them meaningfull impact.
