The 16s, 28s and PCR Platforms for ID Clinicians

There's a broad range of experiences with the use of them. The two places that I know that you can send the 16s and 28s to clinically are Seattle University of Washington and the Mayo Clinic. In our hands from a personal view standpoint the 16s, 28s kind of platforms have been most useful in situations where you have source tissue so it's gram stain positive or you see fungi there. Those tend to be the situations in which we send those out and those tend to be our highest yield situations.
