Napoleon and the French Revolution
The Concordat essentially welcomed the Catholic Church back to France. Napoleon made it very clear that church and state were going to be separate. He was able to get Catholic conservatives, one of the most die-hard anti-revolutionary groups in France, back on side with this proclamation. In these years, the quality of life in France really started to improve. Wages were going up, products that had not been on the market for years started reappearing in the shops.
