The Seven Day Week in Bookkeeping
In the late 19th and early 20th centuries, various powers and institutions tried to replace the seven day week with something else. These attempts failed in places where the week was already the norm. Hinkan says across this period letters begin to show a greater preference for organizing recent memories by weeks instead of other timescales.
