The Atamists and the Eleatics

Lucippus was well acquainted with the eliatic tradition begun by parmenides. The later democritus, then seems to have taken his atomism directly from lucippus. Both of them lived in the fifth century b c and were almost exact contemporary of socrates. It's tempting to make a connection to protagoras, the relativist, or sceptical sophist - but i'll come back to that soon.
