There are four kinds of attachment. The first is something called secure attachment, where the child may start to cry when a stranger enters their inner room. A second set of kids who, when mom leaves, they also start to cry, but when mom comes back, they seem to be really torn. Third type is the anxious, avoidant attachment; in these kids, it's really interesting. They won't go to mom for comfort, even though they're kind of upset. And they'll sort of remain independent.
