Is Shorting a Good Idea?

I don't see a problem with it, but it's like merger arbitrage or any of these things. When you're long, and then long stocks, I think that would make much more sense if you're just looking to smooth out some returns. That's what they're doing is to lower the volatility. There are maybe people listening to this who'd be better at shorting. And buying and holding companies is not a very good strategy because they're not very able to execute on that.
