The History of the German Assault Rifle

They're cheaper and easier to produce than the submachine guns that predated them. The Germans come up with the assault rifle it's a in 1940s ground breaking weapon is the idea. I think that is what they intended to do eventually but they didn't actually arrive at that point. It was another way of streamlining their production so they can cut back on the K-90s Cut back on the SMG and just produce one again universal rifle.
