Know Your Enemy

CHAPTER

The Transgressiveness of the Record

Bob Dylan's new album is called "American Morning" The first line of the song you're feeling as good as can be and you don't need to be convinced it's fun. Bob has a lot of admiration for rebellion always like rebellion against whatever it is, says Caravaggio. He invokes make America great again but he also points to the 50s when housewives took in antidepressants and then barbituates so that they could help them sleep at night. It's this idea that what defines the 50s is not the conformity but the fact that the constraints no longer are really respected.
