The Challenges of Hypersonic Flight
Modern CFD has really become the enabler for design of hypersonic vehicles. We want to avoid turbulent flow where we can, but often we cannot. So we do a lot of computational studies to try and understand where that transition from laminar to turbulent flow will occur. It's a very active area of research.
