i think i need to point to the problems in contemporary politics because they should immediately jump to mind the non-stop anger of cable news. The way that particularly the conservative media ecosystem encourages fear if not panic on the part of the people who listen to it, says John Avlon. That state of fear and confusion and aversion to difference makes it basically impossible to engage in politics skillfully as you cannot see anything clearly at all. We need to go beyond tolerance to actively taking joy in other people's ability to live lives of their own even if those are different from what we would choose for ourselves said Avlon.
