The Negative Effects of Education on Women's Work

The sex ratio and increasing dowry demands are among the top reasons why families try to get their daughters married at a young age. Despite all of this, if marriage was a means for economic security, couldn't educated women attain this by themselves now because they are increasingly empowered with education? Mary says that while we do have very strong links between education and marriage, we don't have a strong understanding and link between paid work and marriage.
