The Other Book That I Loved When I Was a Kid
The anonymity really helps hammer home the fact that this is a secret war. names you can't know where we are they'd find us and they put brain slugs in our heads. I think it sounds like a similar thing might have happened with something like Discworld which I don't think originally had a map. It's just not necessary for that kind of that kind of story too.
