The History of Military Incompetence
The hero myth, the hero archetype being inculcated, generation after generation. And so no matter how much you try to do to reverse that, even if it's the Bible, biblically speaking, we rebel against that. They all want to go back home, but the irony of those stories is that they never can. Not because of their own limitations, like their home is gone. Like they can't go back to what they've already lost.
