Ghana owes more than $5 billion to its lender countries and more than $15 billion to commercial creditors. Anu says the government has a lot of other changes to make in order to keep this debt under control. For years, Ghana's been a successful model for developing nations in Africa. If the gold standard is hitting a rough patch, that's not a great sign for everyone else.
