The Rise of Anonymity in Corporate Governance
The rise of managerial power has spawned a new class of Uber managers whose pay and privileges dwarf those of line workers to an unprecedented degree. So management seems to be an overhead expense with no natural limits short of bankrupting the company. What management mostly produces is more managers, which means new configurations of power in the firm and in the economy. It's almost like it's my Robin Hood app, like an option trade. Yes. Like a call option on Apple stock. And I can do it from anywhere.
