The Importance of Self-Giving
Jesus told his disciples that he must go to Jerusalem and suffer many things at the hands of the elders. Jesus turned and said to Peter these same words that he said in the wilderness you get out of here Satan. This is a very emotional visceral response from Jesus, according to one scholar who says every time spiritual evil appears again throughout the story of Matthew this is Jesus's victory.
