The End of the War
Most Germans, including soldiers of his own unit, just wanted to get home. Hitler might wish the war had continued, and the Germany had triumphed throughout Europe. But for most, the end of the conflict at least brings some kind of closure. Most soldiers really just thought only of crossing the Rhine and getting back to their families.
