#208 Why British People Say 'Sorry' So Much

The Level Up English Podcast

CHAPTER

I Beg Your Pardon

Pardon is a little bit like the word forgive forgiveness. If you pardon someone, you forgive them or you say it's okay. Another usage of this word pardon is in the phrase I beg your pardon. It means please forgive me. So that's a really good one to know if you make a strange bodily sound. Pardon me also has another meaning though, which is very similar to sorry. Didn't mean to say anything bad. I think you looked much better yesterday when you wore that other shirt. What was that? Sorry. Say that again. Those are some useful phrases there.
