You can learn so much about your field that you work in from fields that have nothing to do with your field. Most people if they spend their entire life in one field looking through the same lens are going to get bored of it pretty quickly. You cannot believe in risk without also believing in luck because they are fundamentally the same thing. The accidental impact of other people's actions can be more consequential than anything you do yourself.
