Flaubert, Balzac, and the Rest of the French Writers
I wanted to pick a novelist who was in between a tolstoy and prust. I could have taken henry james, or or thought about joseph conrad. But i also wanted to take another french writer. He has no french fiction and no french poets. And so i'm going to take a flaubert. Flaubert is such a worthy edition. Many, many writers conider madame bovary to be the finest novel ever from start to finish.
