The Tulip Mania of 1636-37
The Dutch tulip mania of 1636-37 is commonly regarded as the world's first and perhaps most colorful speculative bubble. In his 1987 article on bubbles in the new Palgrave, Charles Kindleberger included it as one of the two most famous bubbles in history.
