The Battle of Melody Improvisation

Most of my melodic improvisation is really going to be on the bared instruments. I ask them to do text improvisation or, you know, things within a certain tone set as far as coming up with different arrangements. But just to ask them to full out sing something vocally on the spot, I just, that to me is not worth the fuss.
