Is Religion a Response to the Gospel?

In the new testament religion, it is a response to the gospel. It assumes the form of faith and godliness. And again, everybody is born in relationship with god as well. But the world still says that this is something that people take from outside of themselves upon themselves. That's how you become why you are christian. So i've taken that religion and identity, have taken that off.
