The Importance of Preaching in Presbyterianism
The scriptures are meant for divine reading. It's not meant to be a historical lecture, however interesting that may be for some people. That doesn't give us the meaning of the Bible or the text. And therefore, also doesn't bring us into the presence of God. The mother who sacrifices herself for her children understands Galatians 2,. 20, perhaps bitter, then a historical critical reader of Galatians 1.2-3 understand it at a deeper level than they do in this kind of reading. This is regardless of the problematic context in which we find ourselves.
