The Paradox of Glory and Sham in the New Testament

The new covenant brings all of those to bear, but then adds something new that Jim describes as paradox. Jesus ascending on the cross is an effort to expose him to shame. They want to kill him, but they also want to shame him by making a public display. And yet that very act of making a publicdisplay is the elevation of Jesus, his glorification on the cross. We have to start thinking in these more paradoxical terms.
