CHAPTER

Is There a Difference Between Short Termism and Long Termitism?

It's crucial to distinguish here. If you're thinking about some intervention that's primarily motivated by considerations of what the action does for the short term, then even if fending bed nets, you still want to be thinking about the long run implications. In fact, bed nets was one of the motingvated examples in a paper on cluelessness that i wrote several years ago. So it's not like there are some interventions here that are not subject to cluelessness. And also, even if there were, it's not clear that would be an objection, because cluelessness just kind of increases the spread. It doesn't subtract from value in any predictable way.
