In the summer, I definitely do pretty high volume. And then come the winter, those races are at the most, he would say, an hour and a half. Last winter, most of them were closer to an hour in length. So certainly that requires a different kind of training and requires being more rested. You can't carry these enormous loads and work on some true VO2 max adaptations. This is one of the reasons why I really like to do multiple rounds of the same set of intervals.
