The Story of John Rowlands
By the end of the 1800s, unclaimed land become harder to find. Leopold scoured maps of the world and even floated the idea of buying lakes in the Nile Delta so that he could drain them and claim the land. It's at this point in the story that we need to introduce another character. A writer turned explorer born in Wales with the name John Rowlands. According to him, he saw a wealthy trading magnet Henry Hope Stanley sitting on his porch and boldly asked if he could have a job. The man became such a mentor to the young boy that he eventually adopted him,. He took on his new father's name, recrystening himself, Henry Morton Stanley
