We looked at every map we could get our hands on, and examined in close detail. We deduced the compilers were working from. And then no further information would challenge that theory or confirm it. The language barrier was another major problem. Neither of us is a russian speaker. It makes it much slowero study anything in them and deal with it. So i think, you know, it really is a sense of bewilderment... You are blown away by the detail in which these places were mapped.
