How Long Have We Been Alive?

A baby coral needs a stable place to lay down its initial skeleton. In some places where reefs have been destroyed and turned to rubble, that's when coral restoration can really be helpful. Modern corals have been around for sove millions of years; there were corals around before that for hundreds of millions of years. Those coral species kind of went through some extinctions, like as our planet has gone through extinctions. And then how can we tell ik how long a certain reef has like, been alive? We have to count sort of the generations of coral that have been there.
