Is the Fed Cutting Rates Going to Help the Economy?
When the Fed is cutting rates, sometimes there's a real structural problem. And I'm very comfortable with the Fed's notion that we're going to keep rates high throughout 2023. Rate cuts won't be as fast as what the market's pressing in at this point. Every time the US economy has had an increase in the unemployment rate of more than a half a percent, the US has fallen into recession. So I think there's a pretty high probability of recession. Not right away. I think the economy still has quite a bit of momentum.
